What IP rating is needed for PIR solar security lights used outdoors?

IP65 is sufficient for the majority of outdoor PIR solar security light applications — wall-mounted or post-mounted perimeter lighting, gate approaches, building corners, and standard commercial entries. IP65 handles rain, dust, and direct water spray from any direction.

Specify IP67 if your installations include ground-level mounting, coastal environments, or any position where water pooling is possible. IP67 adds submersion resistance to 1 meter for 30 minutes.
